The AUSTRALIAN PARISH NURSE RESOURCE CENTRE operates as a division of Geelong based PASTORAL HEALTHCARE NETWORK AUSTRALIA Inc.
PHNA, formally known as Lighthouse Interchurch Health Ministries Inc. was founded in 2005 as a base for educating and resourcing faith communities in Community Pastoral Nursing Practice.
The Resource Centre was officially opened & blessed by Bishop Mark Coleridge on Dec 1st 2005 since then we have had many national and international visitors to the centre.
The centre is located in Geelong Geelong West and accessible most days or by appointment. Ph 03 5247 0128
The Pastoral Healthcare Network is an organisation of people devoted to combining their medical expertise and faith-inspired compassion to the activity/ ministry of God centred holistic healing.
They each offer a unique and effective combination of medical know-how with prayer-filled empathy – the most effective medicine of all!
This service is extended to everyone in the community and in particular to those who may fall through the gaps.
Pastoral/ Parish Nursing Ministry
A parish nurse is a registered nurse with specialised knowledge, who is called to ministry and affirmed by a faith community to promote health, healing and wholeness.
In order to practice safely and effectively in health ministry, the parish nurse should be able to demonstrate competence in a defined set of attitudes, knowledge and skills.
